The boys go to school

Early April 2006 was D-Day: after having been home schooled for a number of years, the 15 boys of the orphanage finally went to a genuine school for the first time in their lives. And they are loving it!

Watch this footage about a day at school.

"The boys are off to school. Their school uniforms aren't quite ready yet, but a week without uniform was no problem. They were initially about to go to a school of an old friend of the family, but after having seen the school, we decided against it. Ultimately we chose a Christian school, much futher from home, but better nonetheless."

These kids are often named "The Kingdom Kids" and now they have become prophets too: all 15 of them. The couple running the home had it in their hearts to give them new names. Many of their names came from Hinduism or are connected to it in some kind of way. In Nepalese culture it is 'normal' to get a new name when you become born again - or that's how we were told. So, the night before going to school, they were all given a brand new name.

Meanwhile, the teachers are all very much delighted with the Kingdom Kids! They are incredibly disciplined and work the hardest in their class. Much of this is due to Angela (their home school teacher), she has done a marvelous job in getting the boys ready for school. And it is great to hear the boys' stories. Some have even been placed in higher classes already. They thoroughly enjoy school and so all seems to work out very well.
